COURSE AIM & OBJECTIVES:  This Electrical course will enable you to demonstrate a detailed knowledge as well as gain familiarity with the layout, content and application of the IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition known as BS7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations.

This Course ensures you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulations on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. The course is aimed at those involved with the design, installation or testing of electrical installations in accordance with the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations.

The 18th edition course is aimed at practicing electricians, electrical contractors and those who require to have a good working knowledge of BS 7671. The aim of this 3 day electrical training course is to gain familiarity with the layout, content and application of the BS 7671: 2018 18th Edition Regulations. It is intended to ensure that on completion of this course, individuals are conversant with the format, content and the application of the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2018 18th Edition Regulations.

WHAT WILL BE COVERED?

Session 1: Be familiar with the center health, safety and facilities requirements (Introduction to the center, Take register, Show Center PowerPoint, Complete enrollment forms, Provide qualification overview).  Understand the numbering system of BS7671:2018 and successfully navigate using both contents and index.

Session 2: Identify the scope of BS7671.  Identify the object of BS7671.  Identify the fundamental principles of BS7671. 

Session 3: Interpret the definitions used within BS7671.  Relate the definitions to the regulations and appendices of BS7671 .  Understand how to assess the general characteristics of electrical installations.

Session 4: Interpret the requirements of assessing the general characteristics of electrical installations within the scope of BS7671. Identify the requirements of protection for safety within the scope of BS7671.

Session 5: Review answers from Mock Paper 1.  Session 6: Interpret how this applies to electrical installations within the scope of BS7671 to include: Protection against electric shock.

Session 7: Interpret how this applies to electrical installations within the scope of BS7671 to include: Protection against thermal effects.  Interpret how this applies to electrical installations within the scope of BS7671 to include: Protection against over-current.  Protection against voltage disturbances and electromagnetic disturbances. 

Session 8: Identify the requirements for selecting and erecting equipment, within the scope of BS7671.   Interpret how this applies to electrical installations within the scope of BS7671 to include: Common rules, Selection and erection of wiring systems. Interpret how this applies to electrical installations within the scope of BS7671 to include: Protection, isolation, switching, control and Monitoring. 

Session 9: Review answers from Mock Paper 2.  Session 10: Interpret how this applies to electrical installations within the scope of BS7671 to include: Earthing arrangements and protective conductors. Other equipment.  Identify the requirements for inspection and testing Interpret how this applies to electrical installations . Identify the requirements for special installations and locations.

Session 11:Navigation through online examination.

Session 12: Introduction to the new requirements for BS7671:2018.  Session 13: Protection against over voltage – Clause 443 has been updated and overhauled – changes to be discussed and analyzed.

Session 14 Protection against fire – Chapter 42 has been updated with extra information on arc fault detection, changes to be analyzed and the effects in the works that will be carried out.

Session 15 Electrical embedded heating – Section 753 has been extended to include embedded electrical heating systems for surface heating and will include de-icing and frost preventative systems.  Discuss and analyzed the effects.

Session 16: Energy efficiency, There is a brand new section cover energy efficiency

ASSESSMENT/CERTIFICATION:

All delegates after being assessed and successful completing the course will be awarded a certificate with a note added to confirm that the course was approved by the Cyprus Human Resource Development Authority.
