SUMMARY:Competency in Explosive atmospheres (CompEx) Modules EX01 – EX04
  Electrical Installations
DESCRIPTION:\n\nCOURSE BENEFITS &amp\; AIM:To ensure that delegates have fu
rther in depth knowledge continuing on from the Competency in Explosive at
mospheres (CompEx) Awareness Course concentrating on all Electrical Instal
lations\, from installing\, maintaining\, surveying various types of insta
llations in hazardous areas while enabling a greater appreciation of the h
azards associated with working in explosive atmospheres and the promotion
of safe working practices.\n\nAt the end of the course delegates will be a
ble to recommend the remedial action required to maintain hazardous area e
quipment to meet the required standards. Select the protection concept\, e
nclosure / equipment\, components and install correctly in hazardous areas
. Understand how to identify problems with equipment installed in hazardou
s areas with respect to the appropriate British\, European and IEC standar
ds. Understand that equipment could be a source of ignition that could con
tribute to an explosion. Understand the concept of area classification and
the need to zone flammable atmospheres accordingly. Be able to understand
the terminology and definitions associated with hazardous areas. Understa
nd the various protection concepts namely EXd\, EXE\, EXn etc.\n\nWHO WILL
  BENEFIT:\n\nElectrician\, Technical Assistants\, Supervisors\, Contract M
anagers and Senior Management who work or are associated with Hazardous Ar

oups within ATEX\, Below ground\, above ground gas\, above ground dust. Th
 e meaning UFL/LFL\, Ignition\, Flash point and T class\n3. Protection conc
epts and how they work – the different types of systems that can be used
to protect company assets\, examples such as the 3 factors Flammable subs
 tances\, oxygen\, ignition sources\, and case studies.\n4. Protection conc
epts and how they work (Continued)\n5. Protection concepts of equipment
 – various examples and types of equipment that can be installed to prote
 ct assets e.g enclosures\, constructional safety\, encapsulated devices\,
flameproof enclosures\, dust conductivity. Ignition temperature – Gases
Vapours and Dusts.\n6. Protection concepts of equipment (continued)\n7. Wh
at Glands we use and why\, Wiring systems in use in hazardous areas\, Test
ing of hazardous area equipment\, Maintenance and inspection of hazardous
area equipment\, Inspections of hazardous area equipment\, Responsibilitie
s of those involved within hazardous areas\, Certification of equipment.\n
 8. Numbering and markings on equipment installation\naccess to hazardous a
reas\, when to use isolation and permits\nPractical and theoretical exam b
 rief\nHand out practice question papers\n\n\n\n\nASSESSMENT/CERTIFICATION:
\n\nAll delegates after being assessed and successful completing the cours
e will be awarded a CMS or a CompEx certificate with a note added to confi
