COURSE AIM & OBJECTIVES:
To give delegates a thorough understanding of the dangers of working with electricity, and the knowledge of the safety rules and procedures with regard to low voltage tasks.
To provide delegates with an appreciation of the basic format, content and application of the DEO (Works) Electrical Safety Rule Book. To provide familiarisation with the Defence Estates rules and regulations as per JSP 375 Vol 3 – Chapter 3 and to provide an awareness of the hazards associated with these areas and the methods adopted to provide a safe working environment.

The Electrical Safety Team Roles/Duties and Appointments
Introduction and objectives of course including an overview of the course assessment processes. Electricity at work regulations aims and objectives. Who the regulations are applicable to and the requirement for safe working? Also, the dangers of electricity and the requirements to minimize the risks.
JSP 375 Vol 3 Chapter 3 Skilled Persons Hand Book. Including common requirements for safe working. Client’s competence requirements, records and documentation and safe working tables.
Low Voltage Installations and Switch Gear. Including types/classification of equipment and testing requirements. Also includes the different types of installation.
Roles and Duties of the safety team including the Authorised Person, Person in Charge, Skilled Person and Safety Person. Also, the audit requirements of the safety team.
Low Voltage Dead Working. Covers the safe working procedures for all dead working on low voltage equipment. This will include a review of the safe system of work records, safety program and permits requirements. Also, JSP safe working tables.
Documentation requirements of the JSP 375 for safe working on low voltage equipment. Including work, appointment and audit procedures.
Low Voltage Live Working. Covers safe working table within the JSP 375. Also, the procedures for safe handover of equipment to the skilled person and Person in Charge.
Safe working associated with backup batteries installations. Including control of hazards associated with live working. Also covers the authorisation process to be gained before working commences.
Practical Assessments on the various Portable Electrical Circuit Boards and exercises on the single and 3 phase systems within the Training Centre.

ASSESSMENT/CERTIFICATION:
All delegates after being assessed and successful completing the course will be awarded a certificate, with a note added to confirm that the course was approved by the Cyprus Human Resource Development Authority.
