This course is for delegates who already know about CDM.  Arrangements can be made for the full CDM course which is 2 days,  Please call for more details.THE COURSE AIM

This course is designed to update delegates on the requirements of the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007, and outline the roles and duties of the revised construction safety management team and to outline the requirements of the MOD Health and Safety Handbook JSP 375 in the management of construction on the Defence Estate (JSP 375 Vol 2 Leaflet 20). This is aimed for delegates who are aware of the CDM Regulation and require to learn about the new 2015 Regulations and the differences.

WHO WILL BENEFIT

All staff selected who may be involved in the specification, design, management or execution of construction works, including ‘Clients, CDM Co-ordinators, Principle Contractors, Contractors (and Sub-Contractors) who have a need to be aware of and understand the methodology of managing construction risks especially on the Defence Estate.

WHAT WILL BE COVERED

Session 1

Introduction and setting course objectives

Session 2 CDM Application

Review of the differences between the applications of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 1994 and 2007. The format and content of the 2007 regulations, ACoP and guidances. Syndicate Exercise.

Session 3 The Client

Comparison of the 1994 duties of the client with the 2007 duties; including management, appointments, the client’s agent, etc.

Session 4 The Designers

Current versus new requirements of the design and the designer to eliminate and reduce health and safety risks by design. The provision of information and liaison with the co-ordinator and other designers. Syndicate Exercise.

Session 5 The Planning Supervisor/CDM Co-ordinator

The differences between the planning supervisor’s and the CDM co-ordinator’s duties and responsibilities. The health and safety file.

Session 6 The Principal Contractor/Contractors

The requirements on the principal contractor and other contractors.

Session 7 The Health and Safety Plans/Pre-construction Information

The pre-tender health and safety plan versus the pre-construction information. The construction phase plan. Syndicate Exercise.

Session 8 Competence and Resources

A discussion on the competence and resources requirements included in the 2007 CDM ACoP.

Session 9 Examination

Closed book, multi-choice examination.

Session 10

Course Review and Conclusion

ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATION

All delegates after being assessed and successful completing the course will be awarded a certificate.
